House Judiciary Committee Subpoenas former New York County Special Assistant District Attorney Mike Pomerantz

Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. Jim Jordan (R.-Ohio), issued a subpoena to former New York County Special Assistant District Attorney Mike Pomerantz, requesting his deposition before the Judiciary Committee as a part of its oversight of the New York prosecution of former president Donald Trump. Pomerantz was sworn in as a special district attorney in Feb. 2021 under Cyrus Vance to assist in the Manhattan district attorney office’s investigation into former President Donald Trump and the Trump Organization. Pomerantz publicly resigned from the position in Feb. 2022, expressing disagreement with District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s decision not to pursue an indictment of Trump at the time.

The committee had previously requested Pomerantz’s voluntary cooperation in March 2023, but he declined to appear. In a letter accompanying the subpoena, Jordan describes Pomerantz as “uniquely situated” to provide information to the committee regarding the district attorney office’s “unprecedented indictment of a former President of the United States and current declared candidate for that office.”
