Navy Engineer Charged With Attempting to Share Nuclear Submarine Secrets

A nuclear engineer for the U.S. Navy and his wife were arrested on Oct. 9 for repeatedly trying to pass U.S. nuclear submarine secrets to a foreign country. Jonathan Toebbe and Diana Toebbe were charged with espionage-related offenses under the Atomic Energy Act. For over a year, the couple allegedly sold information about the design of nuclear-powered warships to a person they believed to be a representative of a foreign government who turned out to be an undercover FBI agent, according to the criminal complaint.
