Ohio Court Upholds Defendant's Criminal Conviction, Despite Prosecutor's 'Golden Rule' Arguments

“When we view the improper statements in the context of the entire opening and closing arguments, ‘the statement[s] in no way permeated the state’s argument so as to deny [Shelton] a fair trial,’” Judge Ginger Bock wrote on behalf of the appellate court, citing its 2020 opinion in State v.
